Why April Fools’ Day Is Celebrated?

Many theories regarding April Fools’ day has been heard from ages. Most of the ideas came to England from France in late 1600s. Main reason of the holiday is unknown, but of course some theories abound.

1. One popular theory is that #April Fools’ Day began from France’s 1564 Edict of Roussillion which made New year’s moved to January 1^st. Depending on the slow transfer of messages from one place to another, many people didn’t know about the January 1^st as new year. Those who continued to celebrate the old year were called as ‘April Fools’ by the January 1^st adopter people.

2. Another theory suggests that April 1^st become fool’s holiday because of Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14^th century Collection. The Canterbury tales where in Chaucer includes a playful re force to 32^nd March or April 1^st. However most people consider it an error.

3. There are also other theories, including Indian festival of Holi, ends on 31^st march, as well as ancient Roman festival Hilaria, on 25^th march.
